CAN I TOUCH YOUR HAIR?

Every time I have my hair braided anywhere outside Africa, I get lots of stares. Am I the only one this happens to? Not that I'm upset, on the contrary, I like the fact that people are curious as to how I attached a waist long braid to my less than 10inches of hair. So, I was at the bus stop waiting for a bus (obviously) and I notice this guy staring and smiling at me. At first, I keep a straight face because I was just really knackered but since he kept smiling, I decided to smile back. Then he said 'I really like your hair' and of course, after having four women on my hair at the same time for about 6hours, in my mind I'm going 'you better like it, all this pain cannot be wasted'. But I only mouthed a 'thank you' and a big grin on my face. The next thing he goes, 'I'm sorry, can I touch your hair?'. Call me weird but I don't mind people touching my hair (with the exception of my natural hair. that takes too long to lay still). So, I let him praying he didn't yank it off. He didn't  Thank God. Anyways, the morale of this story is that there is no morale. Just a story of a black girl with her waist length braids.

In other news. I saw a picture of a girl wearing a dashiki and I told my mum I wanted one, so we went around Lagos looking for one and when I saw this yellow and blue design, I was in love. What do you guys think?

    1. I didn't mind my hair being touched. What I disliked was being asked the SAME questions EACH and EVERY TIME I had my hair re-done

      2. Where does your real hair come up to?
      3. How does it stay on your head?
      4. How long is your natural hair then?
      5. Can you feel it when I touch it? (What the...?!)
      6. How long does it take to do it?

  13. Wow. I have this exact danshiki. Even to the green details. It's exactly the same colour. But I got mine in Ghana. I've been looking for where to buy in Lagos.
