There
was a time I use to subscribe to the “No
Days Off” saying. I would work like a horse, reply emails at odd hours of
the night, take my laptop home and work weekends too. One day, my body gave in –
I went into work one morning and had to leave immediately to the hospital. It
was time to take a much needed rest. We live in a society that promotes work
non-stop because working non-stop appears productive and productivity is
supposed to result to money and money makes the world go round.

BLACK & WHITE
Hi guys, I'm sure you know by now that I love the monochrome trend. I got a dress on Asos hoping I'd rock it on its own but it was sooo short that I couldn't wear it on it's own so I rolled it up, got my black trousers and peped the waist so the 'join-join' I did wouldn't show. I felt like my black shoes were too plain so I made a bow and attached it to the pumps for a little "umph". How did I do?

Love isn't a product of God, it is an attribute of God. It is not something He does. It is something God is. And guess what? we are made in His image and likeness....

My RICE Experience...
It's been a cold weekend here in Braddy-town. Non-stop snow from friday to saturday. For the past one month, I haven't had any appetite hence losing a considerable amount of weight and having dull skin. (Who knew your skin was affected by your appetite as well?) Anyways, I realised my appetite was coming back again and I planned to go to town on friday to stock up on food but due to the snow, I stayed home and tried to order pizza but they weren't delivering. So I went to bed hungry (I might have even shed a few tears. Lol). I woke up on saturday determined that it didn't matter how heavy the snow was, I was gonna go to town. And I set off with a list of ingredients for jollof & fried rice. Spent a couple of hours out in the cold holding way too many bags. I got home and started the process only to realise I forgot one vital ingredient - THE RICE. I contemplated just making pasta since I had a bit of that but I was like No, I want rice. So I braved the cold again for the 2nd time in one day and I got rice.
First of all, I've never been so excited to buy rice before. Secondly, it made me realise that we don't get results from convenience. If you want something so badly, you're gonna have to step out of your comfort zone to get it. Sometimes you're gonna have to brave the stormy weather, the voice in your head, the discouraging words of others and just do it. Sometimes you're gonna have to give yourself a little slap on the face to catapult you into the right frame of mind to achieve that which you want so badly. So the real question is how badly do you want it?
I was going through my blog reading list when I saw this lovely dress on Cyn's blog. (I stalk her blog) and I was blown away. It was just too gorgeous. I had seen it on asos a couple of times but never really paid attention to it 'cause wiggle dresses are not really my thing. However, after seeing Cyn rock it, I ordered it straightaway (it helped that asos was doing 25% off for students). The dress came in other prints and I decided I would get ankara and sew it in other prints. Dresses like this need to be replicated. I picked this print due to the modern yet retro vibe to it. I figured if I cannot get out of my environment for a little holiday, I might as well dress like I'm on a little holiday. Don't you just love getting inspiration from other bloggers? (I know I do.) THE 1ST TIME THEY FELL IN LOVE.
OUTFIT DETAILS
Dress // Belt - Asos
Shoes - TopShop
Bag - Zara
This was the first dress/item I got from Asos and I've had it for over two years and since then, Asos has been my go-to site for dresses. I have really gotten into the art of pencil dresses lately, I even wore one to uni and I had a few people asking me if I had a date later that day. (LOL)
Pencil dresses remind me of liberation....of freedom....of self-love and confidence. A couple of years back, I wouldn't be caught dead in a pencil dress because I was insecure and I was ashamed of my body. I wanted more. I wanted to be bigger and I know that sounds silly but I grew up in a place where all the 'boys' wanted curvier girls and I let that affect my self-esteem. (People still tell me today that I would be so much 'hotter' if I added more weight. Guess what? I DON'T CARE!). When I met Jesus Christ, I stopped focusing on what the boys thought and about what He thought and I realized and I am proud to say that I am beautiful in my own right. Emphasis on the word 'beautiful', not sexy. There is so much more to life than one's physical appearance. Being curvy or skinny, light skinned or dark skinned, white or black, natural or relaxed doesn't make you beautiful. Accepting that you are wonderfully and fearfully made by God, that's what makes you BEAUTIFUL and if you live for being SEXY, then I'm NOT sorry to say, but you might as well not live at all.
TOO MUCH MUSHINESS??? BACK TO OUTFIT DETAILS: I didn't go for my signature red lips today because I wanted a little change. (Never again. lol). It's really hard trying to put anything against a red dress because a red dress will always win but I think my red dress has found its match in these rose gold shoes
"Your task is not to seek love, but merely to seek and find all the barriers within yourself that you have built against it. The question isn't whether God loves you. That's a statement of fact. The question is what are you doing to reject that love?"
Have a wonderful week.
Lots of love,
