BLINDING LIGHT

One day there was no light (which is not a big deal in Nigeria) and then subsequently, the inverter died. And then the fuel in the generator finished. And I was left in total darkness to get ready for work. I got hold of a torch and it’s been a while since I used one. I put it face up so it would illuminate the whole room. I was looking for my keys and all of a sudden, I went too close to the light and it literally blinded me. I was shocked. All I have known about light is that it is meant to illuminate...brighten a dark room...not meant to blind anybody. I spent the whole day thinking about it.
On my way back from work, I was listening to “Jesus, friend of sinners” by Casting Crowns and that’s when I realised the effect judgmental Christians have on others. They are like the blinding light. They are supposed to provide the light of Jesus to the world so the people can see but they have blinded the world with their “Oh so bright, Oh so perfect Jesus-light” that nobody has but them. Our light as Christians isn’t supposed to blind people but to show them the pathway to Jesus and think that somehow, sometimes, I’ve missed that point. So the blinding light was a wakeup call for me, I hope it is for you too

I put on weight and my peplum top doesn’t fit anymore. So I had to get a new one. I just wanted something simple that I can repeat and repeat and wear in different ways so I got a plain black material and told my tailor to sew a strapless peplum top. I paired it with a peplum pencil skirt also sewn by my tailor. I completed the look with a pair of black pointees. In hindsight, I should have worn nude lipstick.

  1. I once wrote a post about being the light of the world on my blog, but I never saw it from this perspective. Thanks for the insight, we should beam with an alluring glow and not an offensive glare. 😘

  3. I love the message. It's very true that sometimes Christians can be harsh and that repels the ones who need the light.

    Cute outfit too.
