SWEET TALK

I once had a Lecturer who would tell every student that they were right when they made a suggestion. When they wrote the exam, they put those suggestions in the exam booklet and didn't do as well as they expected. He was a nice man and didn't want to offend anyone.
I'm exactly like that man. I really hate to offend people, so much that I may sometimes come across as "fake" or "misleading" because I'm smiling 95% of the time in public. It's the same way with the gospel. When I tell people about Christ, I like to emphasise that God loves them and is just waiting for them to repent of their sins and come to Him. I mean, this is true. But I leave out the rest that if they don't repent, they'll go to hell fire because there are consequences for your actions and inactions. But I stumbled upon a verse in the Bible that emphasised that sweet talk is good for you, but real talk is better for you. We need tenderness but sometimes, we need people to be stern with us; in order to grow. Even God has stated that the only people He disciplines are the ones He loves. (Hebrews 12:6). I have a baby brother and I make a conscious effort to correct him when he's wrong because I love him. I've come to realise that if we are truly loving people, we need to tell them that God does love them unconditionally, but God also has a wrath. We need to pain the perfect picture of salvation and not just a pretty picture. It's not easy to do but it's an act of love.

I wanted to wear something simple and young-ish. Something about having a 9-5 makes me feel rather old. A denim jacket is an automatic way to feel “hip” for me. My younger sister thinks I’m so embarrassing when I wear it but I don’t care. To add some colour to it, I accessorized with this Muna Muoneke bag. (Now that I have moved back to Nigeria finally, I think it is important to support Nigerian designers). I love the bag because it’s not too big but it has enough room in it for all my essentials. (Plus, it’s affordable and the designer delivers to anywhere in Nigeria).

  6. Hello love glad that you're back, truth is if you look at what Jesus did, he spoke about the love and not the burning hell, you're not the one doing the saving love, they need to understand Gods love before his wrath, but for people who are already in the fold and are backsliding, then you tell them the end repercusssion of their sin..

    1. Of course love. I totally agree. We share the Word and the Holy Spirit does the conviction, not us. But part of the Word involves God's love and His wrath. Even Jesus emphasized that if people do not repent, they will perish (Matthew 13:41-42 & 49-50). Jesus touched on God's love and the consequences of sin. So I think we must share the true gospel summarized in John 3:16 and beyond.

But I definitely see where you're coming from. Thanks love xx

  16. Love the Ankara bag & how it's styled.
Aside from that, you're so right. The truth hurts but it will set you free. It's easier to dance around the truth and only sell people sweet stories, but the harsh reality will eventually catch up with them and you're the one they'll think back to & wonder why you didn't warn them? Lol

  17. I don't think smiling 95% of the time would make people perceive you as fake, I think interesting would be what I would perceive you as. It important to understand God's love but also to be discipline enough to understand that being sorry every time isn't the answer.
    welcome back home.
